Excitable Edgar is Lighting Up the UK Holiday Shopping Season
In the UK they don’t have Thanksgiving to interrupt their holiday shopping season, so there Christmas shopping is already underway. And while TV ad spend is down in the US in Britain, the introduction of the ‘big Christmas ads’ always causes a stir.
The first to do so this year is a joint effort from one of the UK’s biggest department stores, John Lewis, and its grocery giant partner, Waitrose. It features a little green dragon called Excitable Edgar, and he’s already caused quite a stir, with the plush versions of him selling out almost instantly. The company also had to apologize for making some small children cry.
