Sen. Warren Repeats Call to Break Up Amazon

Following a Reuters report that the company’s Indian subsidiary duplicated products from other vendors, gave them better search placement, and sold the goods on its site, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is pushing for Amazon.com to be broken up. Employees had access to confidential data, which they exploited to mimic popular items, according to documents obtained by the news organization. White House Wades Into Supply Chain Woes Debate

President Joe Biden is meeting with business leaders, including Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner, to discuss methods to alleviate current supply bottlenecks that are preventing items from reaching consumers. “Because the supply chain is largely in the private sector’s control, we need the business sector to help us solve these difficulties. Three of the country’s top goods carriers, Walmart, FedEx, and UPS, have committed to operating 24/7 during off-peak hours,” stated a senior administration official.
